Shift in traffic around RMH construction
Today will bring another traffic shift in the Rockingham Memorial Hospital area. Traffic flow will change on Port Republic Road between Boyers Road and Stone Spring Road. Southbound traffic will be shifting to the left onto the newly constructed roadway and northbound traffic will be maneuvering to the right onto the new road.

The Charlottesville Police Department is asking funeral homes to pay for officer escorts for large funeral processions. The department is charging $150 for the police escorts, which Chief Timothy Longo says is in line with a nationwide trend.

Virginia farmers not optimisitc about fall harvest
While most row crops haven’t been harvested yet, Virginia farmers are bracing themselves for lower yields and less production. Winter wheat, which already has been harvested in Virginia, yielded 51 bushels per acre, compared to 58 in 2009, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

No More Stickers in Rockingham County
Although the $20-dollar fee will remain, if you're a Rockingham County resident, you can say good-bye to your vehicle decal. The Board of Supervisors voted yesterday to stop issuing vehicle decals, but will continue charging the annual fee, which will show up on personal property tax bills.
